Thanks Sal, Great Work, The Board is looking great,

  2. Just a quick update - we'll be offline for a couple of hours in the early hours of tomorrow morning (Monday 7th September) for some server maintenance. It'll be around 5am BST until about 7am BST. So don't be stunned if we appear offline during those hours; I do know, and we will be back. The Episodes site has also had a server switch, so if you notice anything awry with it, please let me know and I'll look into it. Cheers.
  3. No worries - I did suspect that a couple of you logged on at that time. Even if I'm never around to witness it myself.
  4. Just a little note of celebration that the summaries for 2014 are now complete, which brings us to 20 years completely summarised. A big thank you to all of the summarisers who worked on 2014 - it's a long task writing a summary, and so many of you do it week in, week out without saying a word. Additionally, a massive thank you to those who screen cap for us...the pictures are instrumental in illustrating the episodes, and I wouldn't be without them. Also a big thank you to Gaynor and Graham, who are both invaluable - in different ways - in keeping the archive running.
  5. TPTB definitely know they're there, and I know they've used them on occasion in the past. The Australian Screenwriters Guild is definitely aware of the archive and I sent them quite a lot of background information to help them piece together who wrote what for the show - and I know some of the writers link to us. There's someone, whose name slips my mind, has a direct link to his author page from his website.
  6. Yeah, looks like we had a blip - sorry guys, I was at work and wasn't around.
  7. I'm going to be uploading the next lot of avatars (no promise that I will get them all done today; just trying to get most of them up, and then I'll hopefully finish the last few off in about a fortnight). Can you all see the avatar gallery? http://www.neighboursfans.com/forum/index.php/gallery/ If you click on the avatars folder, you should reach: http://www.neighboursfans.com/forum/index.php/gallery/category/2-avatars/ Then the avatars should be sorted into families. Are you all able to select an avatar from there? Any troubles, let me know. Any desperate requests for certain families...shout them out here.
  8. No worries; thanks for flagging it.
  9. Sorted now.
  10. Sorry, mate - will get this resolved for you.
  11. Random quotes are back - wahey! I have to admit, I have really missed our random quotes feature...and I know that I'm not the only one. I think it has to be high on the list of 'most requested feature' and I am chuffed to bits that we have it back. Even better, it's much improved too! I would love it if you all started adding quotes - please feel free to do so. However, as we're starting from fresh, I would also love it if we could all format our quotes in the same way...hence this guide! (I know that this might seem a bit lame to some people, but I remember the hell of trying to re-format hundreds of quotes on the old board and it's a pain...if we all do it the same way to begin with, it'll look ace and it'll save a LOT of work!) Thanks in advance! To add a quote 1. Go to: http://www.neighboursfans.com/forum/index.php?/quotes/ 2. Press the 'Add Quote' button (top right). Formatting the year and episode number Where it says, "Quote Information, Quote Source," please fill in the YEAR and EPISODE number. e.g. 1986: Episode 0222 1998: Episode 3000 2007: Episode 5172 Please note the 0 prefix for any numbers below 1000. If you don't know the episode number, please write: YEAR: Episode Unknown e.g. 1994: Episode Unknown Please note that there are two spaces after a colon. If you don't know the year or the episode number, just write Unknown in the box. Formatting the quote In, "Quote content," please fill the quote in as follows: 1. If you need a setup line, please write it in italics and end it with a colon. e.g. When Michael appears to apologise to Wayne: After Lou threatens Russell: Then drop to the next line to write your quote... 2. Please write the character names in capitals (as if it is a script). Please bold the character names, and follow them with a colon. e.g. PHILIP: JULIE: LOU: HAROLD: 3. Please write the rest of your quote as normal (e.g. no extra formatting). Please try to be as accurate to the show as possible. There are lots of quotes on our sister site @ www.neighboursepisodes.com - feel free to look through them and add them!
  12. No worries - I hadn't looked for a while, but I will take a look at them this week when I'm off work.
  13. Welcome back to the board... ...I know lots of things aren't quite right on it, but I decided it was kinder to open it back up and let you all play for a bit rather than keeping it locked all night (especially as I need to run out to buy my tea and eat it, so I won't be working on it for an hour or so ). So yes, there is more to come - but enjoy having a look around. Don't worry, lots of things will change still.
  14. I've given the quotes a bit of a spring clean - thanks to everyone who has submitted; there's some brilliant ones in there. I was chuckling away to myself as I added them.
  15. Happy 9th Anniversary, Neighboursfans! I almost have to pinch myself when I realise that we've been online as Neighboursfans for a whopping 9 years. Those of you who were around from the early days will know that we were online under a different name for the first 4 and a bit years (launching in November 2000) - and it seems incredible that we're still here 13+ years later. I always say this, but I always mean it - thank you to everyone who logs on and takes part in the forums. Everyone who posts really contributes to the running of the forums, and makes this such a fun and friendly place to visit. You're all superstars - thank you. It is, of course, Neighbours' own anniversary today - making it to 29 years (crikey). The rumours and spoilers make it sound like we've got lots to look forward to from the show, and I know everyone's been enjoying the early 1980s episodes that have been released on DVD. It's a shame that we haven't got any repeats airing (it pains me to think those 90s episodes are gathering dust!) - but we'll keep our fingers crossed for the future. Neighbours Episodes is growing out of itself - as you all know, as the archive keeps disappearing for a few days at the end of the month. Astonishingly, we've summarised 6329 episodes - which is a whopping 92.79% of episodes! We've only got 492 historical episodes to go...absolutely incredible. A huge thank you to everyone who contributes to the episodes site. If you've never written a summary, you might not realise just how much time they take to write - and everyone who writes for us always makes a real effort to accurately summarise each scene, and even transcribe significant pieces of dialogue. On top of that, lots of members have submitted caps for episodes - and it's no easy task. I think the screencaps really add to the episodes (there's something about the accompanying visual that helps to bring the summaries to life), so I appreciate everyone who works on those as well. The screencaps and accompanying tags also mean that we've got a brilliant character gallery (I'd have killed for that when I was 14 - that's what I really wanted from a Neighbours website as a teen!). So, a huge thank you to everyone who contributes to the summaries site, and a special shout out to both Gaynor and Graham, who go above and beyond in many different ways to ensure that the archive runs smoothly. As for the forum itself, I am always indebted to my team of Staff and my fellow Admin, Janet. I'm proud to say that they're all great friends of mine, and they all work really hard to ensure that the board runs smoothly - particularly in periods when I'm not always able to get online (oh, to be a student again!). Thank you for all that you do; I don't always get chance to say it, but you guys really are fab. We've had a few changes over the past year, the most notable being the board upgrade. Obviously, this has caused a few changes (mostly the avatars) and I'm still(!) working on sorting those out. You know it's been a long task when I haven't managed to upload any Phil ones yet(!) ...I am loving the 'like' post feature, though! As an aside that may make you laugh, the lack of avatar support was one of the things that stopped me from upgrading the board sooner. One of my only regrets is that it stopped me from running some of the features I had planned...and one of those was an area of the board to have avatar competitions. We've got some amazing avatars, but we haven't got all of the families covered, and some characters are neglected...so I decided that it would be a great idea to have a few contests where we covered some of the older characters. ...the funny thing is, the two characters I chose for the first competition? Brad and Lauren. I was quite amused when they returned! Maybe I should resurrect that post from the depths of the forums. ...anyway, that's enough from me. As I said earlier, everyone, please pat yourselves on the back. You all make this a really awesome community, and I enjoy spending time here. I hope you all do too. Thank you for visiting.
  16. Good to 'see' you again, mate! Yes, June of 04 was still Erins - we converted to Nfans in March of 05. It seems very odd that we did about 4 years and 4 months under Erins and we've been going for 9 and a half years now as Nfans. I remember us tipping over the 'half and half' milestone, but now Erins is a long way in the past. Where has the time gone?!
  17. It was definitely their end. What I do regret is not sending out a mass e-mail...I can't remember at the time why I didn't do it, but I should've. I think I sort of figured that people would find their way across eventually, but there wasn't Twitter and stuff like that back then, so although the hardcore bunch of posters found out and spread the word around, we still had people turning up 5 years later saying, "Oh my god, you're here!"
  18. Yeah, it wasn't the board software though - it was that the server collapsed under the strain of it, and the hosts didn't get it back up quickly. I think the fact that the site hadn't been renewed with them meant that they weren't that bothered, as we were leaving a week or so later.
  19. Good question! I seem to think that I deliberately plumped for the anniversary of the show...so yes, it could've been the 16th or the 14th or whatever, and I selected the 18th on purpose. It's all a bit in the dim and distant past now, but if I remember rightly, I was told that Erinsborough was closing its doors, and I was given the offer to continue the forum/site under a different name. I think I had a week or so to get the new site up and running - although I'm pretty certain that the writing had been on the wall for a while...and I made the decision to purchase the forum software (we'd been using a free version up until that point) and upgraded it...I had quite a bit of work to do on it, as I'd made LOTS of modifications to the original software when it was Erinsborough, and we wanted a lot of those features back. The biggest nightmare was that the hosting provider of Erinsborough suffered a catastrophic outage the week prior to us switching over, which meant a lot of people didn't find us / make the crossover. It wasn't at all deliberate - it was just an unbelievable stroke of bad luck...and it meant that we just started afresh...we were going to transfer a bunch of the topics etc, but in the end, with the host out for so long, it was easier to just take across the members database and begin again.
  20. Hi guys, Just a quick update that I've done a few fixes on the board. The cosmetic ones that you'll probably notice are: 1) Country flag icons have returned in topic view. 2) All avatar thumbnails are working. Thanks for your patience with these - I don't seem to get the time to do maintenance these days!
  21. I can create, although given how long it took me to mend them, I maybe wouldn't hold your breath for too long! I will try and remember to get one for you.
  22. Hi guys, Sorry for the outage earlier. It's been resolved now, but there are a couple of 'stray' posts that were posted at around 10.30am which have been lost. It's not a HUGE problem (I can only find two instances - and one of those is an RSS Bot post!) but I apologise all the same. The data was lost when the board crashed (they must've been posted mid-crash). Anyway, sorry for the downtime. All should be well again now.
  23. Hmmm...I will keep tinkering. Thanks mate!
  24. No worries, mate - can you try something for me? Can you go to your profile, and hover over your avatar...does a Change button appear? If so, can you press it and then press 'done'?
  25. Hmm, no, I've got a problem... Does the view new content list look like this for anyone else?
